Cassini/RPWS/HFR LESIA/Kronos SKR Data Collection V1.0

Thursday 7 January 2021, by Baptiste Cecconi

This collection is composed of Cassini/RPWS/HFR (Radio and Plasma Waves Science / High Frequency Receiver) daily SKR derived files, as described in Lamy et al. (2008).

This collection is part of the Cassini/RPWS/HFR LESIA/Kronos Collection(https://doi.org/10.25935/1SXH-AQ56).

Description

The data collection contains daily ASCII files of cleaned and resampled SKR flux densities and integrated powers in Left-Hand and Right-Hand Circular polarisation. The data are derived from the High Frequency Receiver (HFR) of Cassini/RPWS (Radio and Plasma Waves Science) dataset, as described in Lamy et al. (2008).

Content

The collection is composed of 5372 plain ASCII files (3.92 GB) containing data as described in the table below.

Coverage and sampling

  • Time range: 2003-001 (Jan. 1st) to 2017-258 (Sept. 15th).
  • Time resolution is 3 minutes.
  • Spectral range: 3.5 kHz to 1500 kHz
  • Circular polarisation degree: -1 (RH) to +1 (LH)

For spectra density columns, the 48 Frequency bands are as follows:

  • 24 log-spaced bands from 3.5 to 320 kHz, with bandwidth = 20% of central frequency
  • 24 linearly-spaced from 350 to 1500 kHz, with bandwidth = 50 kHz

The list of central frequencies (kHz) [48g9.6] is:

Selection criteria for flux and power data: |V|>0.2, SNR(X)>10dB and SNR(Z)>10dB

Fill values:

  • Absence of detected flux under the above selection criteria: 0.00e+00
  • Data gaps: -1.00e+00
